Sciacca is a lovely small town by the sea that offers plenty of activities to choose from: you can visit the heart of the city, consisting of three layers: the Fishermen’s Neighborhood, where you can buy freshly caught fish, the San Michele Neighborhood, where you can visit historical churches and monasteries (which were also filmsets like “Seduced” and “Abandoned”) and the historical center, where you can walk among ancient buildings and small alleys, historical monuments and churches, but also modern art, like the street art in the little Arabic area of San Leonardo.
For those who love nature and sea it is possible to hike up to Mount San Calogero, which also hides steamy caves that the legend says were built by Daedalus, or visit the many beaches and natural reserves close to the small city.
For those who have a fine taste for art, it is a must to visit the workshops of the ceramic craftsmen and admire the creations of goldsmiths who mold the famous corals of Sciacca.
For food enthusiasts, it is possible to taste local and Sicilian specialties, like ova murina or cucchitelle (pastries made only in Sciacca).
Sciacca is also surrounded by many touristic sites:
• Caltabellotta, a small nativity-scene village on the top of a mountain, where you can enjoy traditional local (0 km) food and admire breath-taking sunsets.
